Just last week, a student turned to me while on his Reading Plus and asked me for help. I quickly read the question and gave him the answer. After he smiled and thanked me, I realized what I had done. Granted he said that this was the first time that he had "passed" a RP test in a while but I knew that he had learned nothing from me simply giving him the answer. Modeling and guiding are the true methods of teaching - just like Piper's mom ! Sometimes it is easier for us to simply "give the answer" but - Is that really best practice?
